Providing Comfort & Class Since 1948
ORVA started its business in 1948, opening its first retail location in NYC as a hosiery store. It soon expanded into a hosiery store chain, selling hosiery + dancewear, with locations in NYC + Syracuse,NY, the state of Michigan, and Columbus + Youngstown Ohio. At its peak, Orva had 19 stores in the Northeastern part of the United States.
In 1984, Orva opened a full women’s department store in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, on East 86th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenue. One of the departments was women’s shoes. In 2004, Orva opened its first shoes only store on Lexington Avenue, between 60th + 61st Streets. The success of this store lead the company to transform itself into a shoe store chain. The 8,000 square foot 86th Street location was converted into the company’s flagship store, a family shoe store serving men, women and children. Orva shoes then added 5 additional locations in NYC.
Finally, in 2011, Orva began selling on the internet under the domain name ORVADIRECT.COM, and in 2016, the company segued into the domain name SOLES.COM.
